ADI Sound Injection Shared.map

Post by Veditor »

Hello,

I'm trying to inject custom sound files into the Halo 2 shared.map using ADI. I know it can be done because I have successfully injected a sound file into the map before and had it play. Basically what I am trying to do is replace the announcer sounds in multiplayer (ex. slayer, capture the flag, killing spree, etc.). I have recorded all the sounds as WAV files and converted them to WMA files that are below the size of the original sounds in the map. Every time I inject the sound, resign the map, and clear the cache it still doesn't work - the announcer still says slayer when the map loads.

I have injected sounds successfully before and so I must be missing something or doing something wrong. In ADI there are two buttons - Inject Chunk and Inject Sound. I am wondering which button to use to inject the sound. Also, the announcer sounds aren't using the Xbox Codec as far as I know and so are they supposed to be WMA files? There is also a checkbox to attach "ADPCM header to Files That Need It" - does this need to be checked or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

All sounds within the snd! tag use the Xbox ADPCM codec.

If your sound files are encoded with the Xbox codec, then yes.

Also, sound injection isn't perfect, it doesnt work alot of the time. ALOT.

Thanks Tural. But I still would really like to try to inject sounds, even if it is difficult. And I still have those questions that I asked about how to use ADI when injecting sounds and what exact format the files that I want to inject have to be in. I've done it in ADI before so it must be possible!
