SparkEdit Questions

Okay, SparkEdit has been my main focus over the past few weeks. I have pratically mastered everything...except for two things: AI Spawn Points and creating parts of buildings.
About the AI Spawn Points, I have tried putting them into vehicles with HHT v5 and flipped the vehicle over in SparkEdit v3.02. However, that method is just way...way to cheap. I need something that is like an official spawn point and I have seen maps like that. The spawn points simply show up as light-orange-ish cubes on SparkEdit but I don't get how to get them!
I've tried changing the AI into the weapons category in HMT and swapped them with a weapon or vehicle...but nothing works! Please help. I have asked before but I always get the same answer: Put in a vehicle. Put in a vehicle. Put in a vehicle.
Now for the parts of buildings and I appreciate you for reading this far on these noobish questions. On some totally re-modeled maps, some people actually made buildings from metal. For example, you know in BloodGulch, the red and blue bases? I want to know how to acquire that material that makes up the walls. The gray metal.
I have tried skinning logs but obviously they are still round and not smooth. Is it possible to make a simple cube in MilkShape and import it into a Halo map or is there an easier way?
