[MISC] Overheating and FPS

So... my laptop overheats when playing something hard like, Halo Custom Edition map = hugeass, or with San Andreas or any other "heavy" game for my laptop... it overheats and turns off, I have to wait like 5 min to be sure it wont be wrong to turn on again.

Is there any tip to improve my laptop's "stamina"? hehe I dont know where to start to try and help my girl here (sony vaio pcg-k25f notebook if that helps), please, ANY help would be apreciated, even if you told me to put a bag of ice under it.

Another thing, frames per second, they will go well on San Andreas and Halo... but sometimes >___>, in New Mombasa (the Halo2CE map) slows the f*** out of my laptop's frames per second, zanzibar does 40-60 so its not that bad, but you can tell its slow... a bit anyway. Is there any tip you would give me to improve? there's a stamp here that says "ATI Radeon integrated graphics" that must help... oh and "512Mb" meaning 444Mb of RAM >__> there must be something that can be done.

And ANY help will be apreciated btw, thanks in advance

Um well i dont know any computer things to do but if you go to Target, if you have ever heard of it or have one, they sale a laptop coolant devise for like 30 bucks. My laptop had the same problem and i bought that thing and it has never shut off since from overheating.

you can raise the temp it shuts off at in the bios. so insted of overheating at whatever it does now you have about 10 more degresse before it shuts off, or however many. or just sit it next to a fan.

well if yu dont know how to get into your bios and exit it safly i wouldnt suggest trying it. basicly when you get the black screen on start up, you press f2 i think it is, it goes into your bios options and its somewhere in there. ive only done it once so i dont really remember.

wat mostly is happening is, when u use a cd to much it overheats the comp and so comps dont melt or get damage they overwrite and shutdown(happened to me before).(even if its a virtual drive same thing).

now for me the fan broke and had to get it replaced. so open it up and check the fans u might just need to dust it or get a replacement.

Depends how good you are are overclocking. There are special strategies and techniques you can use that can seriously bump a computer up to a level that would normally cost a few more hundred dollars of equipment otherwise.

If you ever overclock and it completely screws up your computer, reset the bios.

My advice: Leave the BIOS alone. Get a fan.
There are devices that attach to the bottom and sides of the laptop that will greatly decrease the ammount of heat on the CPU, HDD, et cetera.
Also, make sure that you are a level surface, clear from any debris.

If push comes to shove, you could open your laptop, take out the HDD--still connected to the mobo--and leave it out of the lappy. That will bring down the temperature.

My friends computer sounds like a motorcycle because of all his fans....So to keep the noise down, in winter, he has a tube out his window that feeds into his computer.

Lol...try that, it is still al ittle cold out.

my computer is VERY overclocked, i went from 1.4 GHz to 2.37, and it is still stable. O btw, regarding the pm, on one of the start up screens, it will say what to press to get into the bios. And, because you bought a laptop with xp pre-installed, you should ALLWAYS re-format the hd and reinstall windows, especially because yours is a Sony, so it probably has a root-kit

SNAPE KILLED DUMDLEDORE? that stupid goth....
