Connection Hijack!

I have started recieving this problem with
Halo PC.
Up until this week i have been able to host servers of up to 8 players fine without any lag (depending on the ping of user) on a 2mbps DSL line. But recently like in this last week i have had a this issue.
I can host a game and its fine for about 5 minutes then all players ping shoots to over 2000 leaving me the only option of closing down game and scratching my head in frustration.
When i return to desktop i am unable to connect to any site through any browsers and it is as if my connection has been hijacked whilst playing the game. All i can do is disconnect and start the connection up again.
Has anybody else ever experienced this or does anybody have any advice.
And nice work on the forum your doing a good job.

Is your connection running through a router?
If so, have you forwarded only the ports Halo needs, or have you placed your machine in the routers DMZ ?
It sounds as if your machine is being used as a bot.

That is something i have thought about hence the thread title. Does anybody know of a way to monitor whats going on with my connection whilst running the game or of any prevention methods i could use to stop this happening.

Well I use a port monitoring application, but I dont know of a free one.
you can try here for a free scan of whats open.

I actaually do use sygate personal firewall but it hasn't prompted me at all for anything to do with halo whilst in game since i allowed the Halo v1.04 or v1.05 Patch access. And all the scans i used from the link you gave me didn't find anything although i did not run them whilst hosting i will try that in abit.
I am suspicous that somebody who knows they are doing is using my server ip for malicouse use whilst im hosting games like you said a BOT.
I dont loose connection when playing on other servers its only when i host.
What ever it is that is hijacking the connection it doesn't start straight away when i start up the server i can be playing fine for upto 5 to 6 minutes before i notice any effect of lag whilst all other players are moaning and shouting about insane lag. What ever is doing it seems take awhile to find me before activating.

you are being attacked by zombies, this is not a joke. A zombie is a cumputer that is set out just to eat your ping, did you piss anyone off online?

And.. Have you done a spyware/Anti-Virus Scan...
Also... Check your Firewall.. I don't think you could host if you had a firewall up ( with the exseption of... Halo being an ..uh.. Exseption)
So THis ONLY happens whe your Hosteing Halo... ( If so... I don't think it would be an attack from a zombie computer)

Yes this only happens when hosting.
I do have a firewall running sygate personal firewall and Halo is allowed access through it.
No i dont think i have pissed anyone off although i have been kicked from a few servers for not talking in there language ie mainly spanish i think.
No i haven't done a spyware scan in awhile i will do one now.
Is there a way of establishing wether or not a zombie computer is hijacking my connection? And if that is the case how would i go about blocking it.

The problem i get has appeared to totaly affect playing Halo multiplayer before it was when i hosted my own server now its when i join any server my ping will be go above 2000.
I am also loosing connection to the internet although my connection appears to be active making me think there is something running that shouldn't be.
Virus scans and Antispyware scans with Nod32 and spybot s&d have brought up nothing unusual and completely uninstalling and reinstalling Halo hasn't fixed it.
Im lost for ideas.

It seems to me that something in the background of your computer... is pinging you
But why it is only when your using halo... I can't currently say.
Do this

Ok i have now got my connection running through a belkin wireless router and i have set the virtual server ports up as required and my ip is not within the DMZ but i am still pinging out when i join or host a server.
I still getting all the symptoms as above and i am completely lost. I tried reinstalling again earlier and that had no affect either..
