Softmod question

Game: Halo 2
Mod type:Soft

Ok, i like doing fun shit and creating kool shit, but dont want to mod my x-box(cause i like matchmaking(im not a rank whore though just like meeting peeps)) but i have a friend who has so my idea is i create mods for him he uploads them to his x-box and well we try them out, i have several questions though...(he has a softmodded x-box)

1-- How do you change stuff on default maps(coagulation,zanzibar,ect..) that are not on the HDD, apparently he says you cannot do it cause thier only on the disk, but i belive if there is a will there is a way...

2-- What are the programs I need( Ok this one im begging for a flame i know im lazy)and where can i get map files?

3-- Looking at the situation above how difficult do you think it would be not having my x-box modded?

4-- What are the limits between softmodding and hard modding is there a list on a webbie somewhere?

5-- Anything else you want to add?

Hard modding = Burning games/music/dvds to harddrive, then copying them on a xbox compatable CD. Action replay is considered a "mod chip"

All the other questions are to be serched.

Yes you can mod old maps. Find unlesh X.

For you, It would take hours and hours and hours to make a mod, FTP it.

Yeah, I did that to one of my xboxs, so it is just like my one with a chip, but without a chip.

now question... he can get on live sense he only has a softmodded x-box question is... will the maps that he mods be playable on live?

is there anything wrong with that?, I read rules... nothing said anything about live... I know i cant have map files and shtuff(already have em too...)... but i saw nothing about asking for asking about modding default game maps on live...

he has been banned from matchmaking he lives to mod, he only mods in pregame lobbys...

custom games is what i mean he doesnt cheat mod, he makes fun mods like err slow moving rockets... and recently he made a game type where everyone is an elite by switching character models... HE HAS BEEN BANNED FROM XBOX LIVE! He is not cheating making fun mods and showing them to people... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THAT?
