I NEED HELP WITH PPF PATCHING!!!!

first of all i have looked at several modding tuts on how to apply a ppf for XBOX HALO 1..... it has not worked. i over write the ppf CACHE003. i load up blood gulch and its exactly the same. what am i doing wrong.
