i didnt copy halo 2 to my hdd, but I have a old map. is there anyway i can play it from my HDD without getting the entire game on my HDD.

No, the only way to play old modded maps is to put Halo 2 on the harddrive, however, you do not need to put the Bink folder and Single Player maps on the harddrive.
