ADI Pelican Injection

Okay, here is the deal. I've been working on small little changes to Halo 2 for about a month. I've worked on a lot of different things except I don't have the time to make new skins. And I've managed to do quite a bit, considering I have a 4 gigabyte hard drive.

After all this, I decided to try some harder aspects of modding. So I decided to have a Pelican in multiplayer. I've been working with Headlong in a version I call Torsoshort (Wonderful name :) )which is in it's twelveth version. I injected metas of the Pelican over pieces of the Spectre and over the Easter Egg tag (Which may be a problem). I went through and changed all of the dependencies and Lone IDs. I changed the map to spawn Scorpions instead of Spectres and the Pelican instead of the Scorpion. And yes, I did sign it.

This is where the problem is. When I go to play the map, it loads and the screen goes black as it is supposed to right before a game starts. But then it just stays black. I've waited for an hour but it won't load. So I tried to open the map in Dot Halo. The tags are all in the wrong place and some just have a space for a name. Yet, the tag editor edits the some of the right things. When I open the map in ADI, which I used to make the mod, all the tags look fine. I've tried resigning the map and renaming it, but it still won't open.

Anyone had similar problems with ADI modding? If so, do you know how to fix it?

Well, I'll try Insolence. But there are bugs in it. Of course, there are bugs in everything. In Insolence, can I just add tags without having to overwrite others? I'm not a noob, I'm just trying different programs.

this makes it so easy(insolence)

Step-1 Open Maps
First, open Insolence. Now, open the multiplayer map in which you would like to play with the driveable pelican. Also open 05a_deltaapproach.map.

Step-2 Drag and Drop
To add the vehicle you must drag over the vehicle pelican. It will drag over the other pelican vehicles for you. Navigate your way to the pelican under the vehi tag. Drag and drop it from 05a_deltaapproach.map to your map that you want the pelican in.

Step-3 MoveBox
Each time you drag & drop a tag, a small status box will pop up to give you information about what the program is doing while you wait. The longest part is usually "Relinking" and it may seem like it froze.. It didn't, it just has to do a lot of file reading & writing at this point, so let it be. When the move is done, the box will go away.

Step-4 Close unneeded maps
Close 05a_deltaapproach.map

Step-5 Fix Seats
Since this vehicle was made for campaign you are going to need to change many string indincies. Select the pelican vehicle and double click it. Then underneath the change plugins there should be the following text "IFP Plugin-"Vehi"Edit mode". Click it and it will change and say "IFP Plugin-"Vehi"Dev mode". From there go to Unknown 11 under Reflexives. Underneath the words "Author: Iron_Forge" There is a drop down bar with and arrow on the right side with a bunch of numbers. We will only need to edit 0-11. Under the 0 change the first string ID to "warthog_d". Then you are done. Go to 1, and change the first string ID to "spectre_p_r". Do the same for 2-10. For number 11 change the first string ID to "warthog_g".

Step-6 Adding the pelican
First go to 'map options' in the upper left corner and go to 'sort by path'. Then click multiplayer, and select "multiplayermultiplayer_globals.mulg". Double click it. Got to Dev mode and choose unkown 2. Choose uknown 2 under that, and choose number 2 in the upper left drop down box. Double click the ID and change it to pelican, you can do the same for number 3, then there are no more tanks, only pelicans.

Step-7 Fix encryption
Go to 'map options' in the upper left, and click 'fix map signature' and wait 10-20 seconds, usually less. Then ftp it over to your xbox and enjoy. Note: The pelican will be flipping wildly, but if you flip it and hold x near the drivers seat you will get in and drive.

I got Insolence as soon as you were talking about it. Thanks for the help on the seats, though. It turns out my old Pelican map could work. I just found that when you inject something new, you should not change the dependencies until your box has loaded the new map at least once. At least I think. Now I just need to learn how to make skins and this will be an okay mod to post.

Sorry to double post, but there are still some problems. I've done all the Insolence injections and I put the Pelican in the map. I fixed all the seats. Sometimes I've been able to fly it. But a lot of the time the game freezes as I get in or I'll get in and start to fly and it will freeze. Anyone know how I can fix these minor glitches. I can send you the serenity patch and a list of current changes if you want to mess around with it.

EDIT: By the way, if anyone knows how to fix the physics of the Pelican so it doesn't flip weird, please tell me. It's not essesential but it would make the mod better.

ANOTHER EDIT: I found out how to stop the freezing. If this happens to anyone just change the sound dependencies for the Pelican or anything else you inject. Insolence tends to screw up the injected sounds.
