help with connecting pc to xbox using a cat5 crossover cable

I am having trouble connecting my xbox to my pc. I am using Smart FTP v1.5 and everytime I try to connect to my xbox it gives me this message

Connecting to 192.168.0.3 Port: 21
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Client closed the connection.

I changed my connection timeout and that didn't help. Any suggestions?
