how do i keep this transparent yet have it under 50kb

the missle ant part of the boat are coming of the background
i wanna keep that but not have a big white space appear

Magic wand it and then hit delete. That should delete that section of white on that particular layer.
Also, IE cannot handle transparent images. Use FIREFOX!! :D

I believe so. But I could be wrong. I've never dealt with transparency + a jpeg.
But to keep it under 50 kb, just go to File>Save to Web. (Something along the 'Save to/for web' lines.)

Then from there you can increase the quality or decrease it so it's under 50 kb. =)

If it's over the limit, then it will be deleted.
Use the Save for Web settings and lower it to under 50 kb.
I will post some pictures later if you need..
