problem with effect of projectile

as a few of you may well kno im working on a mod for you all but i have come to a problem with the projectile and need help when the frag grenade explodes around 2 secs later theres these puffs of smoke or fire when there shouldnt be can some one tell me how to get rid of this pest as it is holding back the mod for a pc version of the guass warthog along with no model to put in yet to make it look like a guass hog can some one help me
