OK so its my second day and I am probably way ahead of myself, and I have very limited programming experience.
I was reading about someone who wanted to change the color of the plasma pistol shot and it sounded like a fun idea. Only problem is the response he was given was that if you use hex you can do it.
I sorta understand hex after looking at it, at least I get the basic idea. My biggest problem is knowing what the hell I am editing. I have hex workshop and dothalo and many other editors. If I open dothalo and goto (plasma rifle not plasma pistol now) effects\objects\weapons\rifle\plasma_rifle\lower_fire I was told that by editing this effect I can change the color.
Basically how do I know exactly what is what. I mean that in an overall term too, like not just someone post the exact thing to change, tell me how you go about figuring out which one it is. Sorry if this is the wrong place, but this is a pretty technichal question about using hex.
Need help with hex
Well thanks for the help, but the lower fire was actually on the plasma rifles, not the pistol, so I really wasnt sure why it had lower and higher on the pr.
Anyway I didnt want to change the color or skin of the gun, just the projectile. I dont see any bitmaps for the projectiles and I have never used a hex editor before if thats the only way to do it.
Im not sure what you meant by thinking why halo would have those names for the parts of the gun, but I think you were referring to the lower/ higher fire.
