HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

Does anyone know how to set up a Dedicated server? becuase i am having some real Difficoulty trying to get it on.

and to join your own DS set the port numbers in halo to 3000 and 3001, instead of 2302 and 2303.

sorry, i'm somewhat pf a noob and can't figure out what he means in the tutorial he made or compied from Gearbox. Do you know how to set up a Dedicated server?

yeah:
- this is an Example, you can put whatever you want into the places where i put: "enterstring"

1. put your DS program into the Halo folder(normally known as C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo)
2. Run that(double click the program)
3. now you can set the server up.
4. we'll start with the server name. Type: sv_name my_DS and hit enter. (note: everytime you need to put a space you have to use the _ key instead of a regular space)
5. now to set the player limit which is normally 16. Type sv_maxplayers # and hit enter(the # sign indicates the number of ppl you can host in a server, in an example case, you would put sv_maxplayers .
6. ok now we have done the absolute basics, so lets move on to getting maps into your server. Type sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch Slayer and hit enter(to do extra maps, just type sv_mapcycle_add themapname gametype, so it looks like this sv_deathisland ctf).
7.last step to the basic setup. Type sv_mapcycle_begin and hit enter.
8. There you go, you've set up a basic Dedicated Server(DS).
9. It's no problem you're a newb(not a noob yet lol) we all were at one time. Some people just forget it.

If you have any problems just say so.

I thought you had to buy a dedicated server for some reason.

Where can you get the program for the dedicated server>

I'm pretty sure it comes with the Download for Halo Custom Edition, it's called Haloded.

(this is the PC version), and yes CE does come with it's own DS(dedicated Server)

now do i type this in the space to the left or the right with the rows?
plus i'm only a noob at modding and setting-up a Dedy server, i am the best player there ever lived. (i forgot about my oldest brother:( )

the text is entered in the left, there should be a blinking _ that appears in the lower left part of the window.

how come i can't see the server when it's running?
do i have to type a new IP Address for it?
