hi. thanks for lookin at this post. i have a modchip, and regulary play on xbox live, but with the chip TURNED OFF. i had no problem getting on and playing for the 3 weeks i had live, but know it wont let me on all of a sudden. i normally have a modded version of halo 2 on my hard drive, and i just turn off the chip and use the game disc to play live. but now, whenever i try to connect to live it says that it detects modified hardware/software and won't let me on!

i have NEVER used hacks online, so i dont know whats going on. i even took out the chip and tryed to connect, but i still get that message. the only thing left to do is erase all my mods off the hard drive, but it took a long time to get them on, so i was wondering if this happened with anyone else and they know whats wrong. Thank you!
here are my chip specs:
Xenium ICE
Solderless adapter
V. 1.1 xbox

You may/may not know this. If your xbox has internet connection all the time, even when you don't sign in voluntary, some games send data to microsoft for protection purposes. One in particular, Bungie does this on Halo 2. Even when you say "Cancel Sign In", a report is still sent in if there is internet.
What they are detecting is manipulations with your xbox. That could be things with your hard drive, new dashboards (if you havn't configured them in a safe way), so on.
For now, your pretty much screwed I think. I don't know if they will let you sign back on if you delete your hard drive information and whatever else you did. They might have banned your EEprom. Good news is, there are ways to get unbanned

I'm going to give you two sites, both are for setting up your xbox so you can actually play on live without getting cought, except, the first also contains content on telling you how to unban your xbox near the end of the page.

One more little tip to be extra safe. Turn off your modem when you are modding. Other words, turn off your internet connection.
Hope this helped!

thank you so much that helped a bunch. i have a few more questions. first, if i had my EEprom backed up b4 i got the weird error message, can i use that one? also, i backed up my whole C: and E: drives before i even moodded anything inside them. could i just re-transfer the C: part of it over?
Here is my big question. as i said before, i took out my modchip to see if that helped. but now, when ever i try to put it back in, my XeniumOS does not boot up, and the little LED light on the xenium turns red. I dont know WTF is going on, and have taken out the chip and put in back in OVER TEN TIMES to the same effect

! im going to check the team xodus site, but was hoping you might know if i did something wrong. thanks again for your help!

For your first group of questions, I honestly couldn't tell you a solid answer, besides go ahead and try it out. No harm in testing it. Nothing to lose

But, I don't really think it will work. Becuase like I said earlier, they ban your EEprom. The ultamite solution would be to buy a new one, or copy one from one of your friend's xbox.
For your BIG question, you might have messed up your chip. That was a bad idea to take it out

You could've done a measure of things, like punctured a spot, chipped off a part of it when taking it out, messed up the chip if you ripped it out of its solder spots (only if you soldered it). Reasons are limitless. Two things I can say to that, one, check out the Team Xodus website, contact them, and see if they can help, OR if your warranty on your chip hasn't gone up, replace it.
Goodluck!

thanks. i checked the website, and got some help from some people there. i dont think it could be too bad, as i used the solderless adaptor, and have had to take it out before because the d0 wire came out of place. thanks for all your help.
im probably just gonna by another xbox (or wait for xbox 2), use one for mods, one for online. thanks for all your help!

No prob. But if what I am hearing is correct, you shouldn't have to buy another xbox as long as you set up your things right. Save you some money
