Teamplay problem on modded Halo2?

Ok here the lowdown on my problem, I want to do some teamplay and CTF on some modded maps. Though I cant switch teams when I have a modded map selected. If I choose an unmodded map it allows me change teams, but then when I switch over to a modded one it says please form two teams....and its showing a red and a blue team.
Is there a way to fix this, or is this normal?

what game type do you have selected?

I dont know about modded maps but on xbl it says for example, after we play a ts with more than 2 teams and then make it a ctf game it says you mut form 2 teams, this is because unless its multi flag there can only be red or blue

if you are on one flag anything but multi flag you can only have 2 teams. in multi flag you can have as many teams as the map can hold. like on waterworks, you can have up to 4 teams. but only on multi-flag CTF.
EDIT: and the default teams are red and blue on every CTF expect multi-flag
