New gfx card

Post by I_LuV_BuRRiToZz »

im considering buying an ATI Radeon 9600 SE 128MB DDR2 and i have 2 questions:

1. will this increase my framerate from my GeForce 4 MX 440 and,

2. does anybody know where to get this card for cheaper that $100?
my pc: AMD Athlon XP 2800+, Geil Dual Channel 1GB RAM, GeForce MX 440 with AGP 8x (soon to be GeForce 6600 128MB AGP 8x), integrated audio from my mobo (supposed to be better than a soundblaster live), a Samsung SpinPoint P Series 80GB hard drive

Lets just say:

It'll turn this:

You will also get about a 5-10x increase in framerate. So, it'll turn 4 fps into 40 fps.

An SE isn't good, though. I recommend the XT. That's what I have. The SE seems to be a piece of garbage...

but they have the exact same specs, the SE and the XT, so whats the diff? and i have a 500MHz CPU, will it still make the framerate go up or does it depend mostly on the CPU?

Oh no, the SE has like a 20 fps lower speed rate than the XT, and seems to be worse in more ways.

I've played with the SE before, the graphics are the same, but the speed isn't great. Plus, XT is about 20-30 more dollars depending on where you live.

Your CPU does matter. It might not run all might-fast, but it'll definatly have a HUGE increase from the MX.

personally, I would recomend an nVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 w/ 256MB of DDR. This one is only $78. You can find it at:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 076&depa=1
Signature exceeded 500x120 pixels.

YEah, I have a Radeon 9550 256MB..

The 256 DDR kicks ass.. but Halo PC has probs with it and needs fixes..

I still can't figure out how to play CE! My graphics card glitches with Halo CE!!

Someone help me over msnm or something! PLZ!

But yeah, if you're at around.. 35-40 FPS, I'd be good enough.

60 is awsome. lol crazily awsome.
