Files to edit skins and obj files

Hey, I'm planning on making my own mod and would like to know where all those files are located..
For some odd reason I can't find them!! arrg!
Please help. Thank you.

well if u have them on ur xbox...if you have an original hdd then should be soemthing liek this. /E/Games/Halo 2/maps/ (not sure bout the E part)
and if you have another hdd instaled should be like this /F/Games/Halo 2/maps/..unless urs is over like 157gb.ten id prob be in G......
EDIT:oh sry.. i didnt know u were talking bout skins..open up a GUI like H2Edit , open up shared.map, then goto (bitm) Bitmaps. find the veichle or gun then click extract. open up in photoshop..u might need a .dds plug in..then save. then import it back in the gui editor(H2Edit etc..)
