i always get this error message when i want to play haloCE
i had the same bug with haloPC, but that i fixed by instlling the DirectX included on the CD... even though i had a more recent version...

CE, however, doesnt have a CD, so what do i do now?

Well i suggest reinstalling your halo ce with the install file or runiing DXDIAG like it says but ehh maybe you accidently uninstalled your direct X so i would try reinstalling Direct x hope that helps :D

running DXdiag didnt show me anything usefull, all seemed to be in order

and about that uninstalling DX, i dont think thats possible, i tryd that once when i had the Beta of DX9.0b, which was causing massive problems on a now replaced computer...

reinstalling it didnt do much good either.

i have heard fragments of something like a patch or some DLL files which could fix that, anyone have a link?

Enable Direct3D in dxdiag, reboot and it should work...Also check that your direct x files are currupt...run a test on them.

other people could have benefitted had you actually helped me...

as for you, 9mm man, i ran DXdiag a dozen times, it shows no corruptions
and all Direct3D options are enabled...

You have a 256 Megabyte Video Card.

Go to HaloMaps.org, Utilities, and download the Strings.dll fix for CE. There is an issue with SP2 and 256 MB Video Cards, and that Strings.dll fix for CE fixes it.
