Changing HEX Edit (noob question)

ok now, I went and done Pie's tutorial which is found here

now I'm lost.. I'am at the final step which is Change FFFF FFFF to the ID Number of the snow meta. When I tryed to paste it didn't work.. it only showed the FFFF FFFF Turn into red. any clue? im releasing a mod im teaming up with a friend and this snow will make our mod 40% done

My ID had about 10 numbers, and there were only 8 F's to replace... What should I do? I tried soem other stuff, but I just got ye infamous Exeption crap...

Well, did you follow the tutorial exactly? If you want i can remake it a little and take pictures to go with it

The tutorial was very easy to folow, good job, but I didn't quite get it when it came to the ID part.
I did find the FFFF FFFF in Hex, but at that moment I was lost...
