Can anyone tell me how to edit models, yet keep the number of indices down so that they can be re-imported? It is always saying I have too many!

you can only use the select, move, scale, and rotate tools

Make sure you save it as .obj then, then try to reinject it into HMT. Then save.

I have done all that. The error is that I have more indices than the original model. :/

When you reinject it into HMT, make sure your trying to replace the same model, thats why I keep the names so its easier to tell.

I also have a question with this. Is it possible to delete indeces and vertices and have the model work fine?

You can't actually delete them, maybe hiding the extra ones you don't want in the actual model, So they don't effect the way it looks. Just like deleting but them still being there.
