ce map compatibility

I bought CE a couple of weeks ago, tried to install a map downloaded from halomods (yes, i put it into the Halo/Maps directory where all of the other maps live). However, if I go into Multiplayer, create Lan game, and scroll through the list of maps, the new map isn't there. So, I checked to make sure this was the right directory by deleting all of the multiplayer maps but bloodgulch. Sure enough, when I delete them, they are greyed out in the list. When I put them back, I can play them again.

So, I thought, why aren't these new maps showing up? Compatibility?

Just opening the original maps and mod maps in wordpad, here's what seems different.

The initial header on the original maps is 'daeh' and then becomes ascii unreadable.

The initial header on the mod maps is 'daeha' and then becomes ascii unreadable.

The version (I think this is what it is, only other readable item in header) for the original maps is 01.00.00.0564.

The version for the mod maps is 01.00.00.0609.

The version for the Halo CE I am running is 01.00.05.0610

I'm hoping that my problem is actually something dumb like "you idiot, your mod maps go in the 'Mapsmod' directory", but I included the above just in case it matters.

Can you tell I've really got a couple of the mods I want to try? :)

Thanks for your help

the version of CE you have should not matter.

the only things i can think of are

1) It didnt un-rar / un-zip propperly
2) The map file is corrupt,

but then HCE normally tells you when you start it

CE and CE

I still have this lingering concern that my CE is Combat Evolved and there is also a CE which is Custom Edition. On halomods and elsewhere, should a map made for Custom Edition work with Combat Evolved? Hopefully they would, but if they didn't, that would explain it.

no, maps for HPC will not work on HCE, they have different header values or something.

If you have Custom Edition Installed, you should have to folders in your microsoft games folder (if thats where u installed them to) Halo, and Halo CE.

Hmmm, so you mean Custom Edition as well... Am I the only one with Combat Evolved? Is it older than Custom Edition? Now I'm really confused.

ok

When you buy halo, you get Halo (HPC).
Gearbox released a newer version Halo Custom Edition (HCE) for use with HEK.

you can DL haloCE free from gearbox's website i think, or just google it ;)

downloading now

Ahhhh, it never occurred to me that the version I bought was older than the free version lol. A quick download should fix it. Thanks for your help shadow!
