Direct3D error...

Whenever I try to start up Halo Custom Edition, I get the "problem initializing Direct3D" error. I've tried un-installing Halo CE. I've gotten the newest drivers for my video card (Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB). I've gotten the latest version of DirectX (9.0c). The hardware acceleration is on. I don't have any idea why Halo CE won't work. It has in the past. Any suggestions about how to fix this problem?

open up gxdiag (start -> run ->gxdiag )
and go to video tab or whatever and you should see 3 buttons, enable them all..
Also right click on your desktop
go to properties
click settings tab
click advanced button
click troubleshoot tab
drag the slider for full accelleration

That wasn't the problem either, but thanks for trying to help.
I did a bit of searching and came across
a solution. It turns out that all you need to do is replace a dll in the Halo CE root directory because of Windows Service Pack 2. The dll is
here (it's on Bungie's site, so I assumed it was safe). So, if anyone else was having the same problem, there's your solution. If it doesn't work, update your video card drivers.
