IP problems

Hey, im having some problem with my IP address, whenever I make a server on Halo or Ventrilo, my ip says stuff like 10.0.0.1:2303 (not real one but its pretty much like that)
And people can't join by direct IP, so im wondering is there anyway I can fix this problem by doinf something, I use Windows XP and I have turned off my Nirton Firewall when I host.
