About a day after I installed the 1.05 patch for Halo, I could no longer see any of the white text.
I can still see the "Double Kill", "Triple Kill!" and "You are on a killing spree!" etc...
What I can't see is the chat text including
[CC]Slither: blah blah
new001 was killed by [CC]Neo
[CC]Knux committed suicide.
[CC]Raiden: hog.
That is what I can't see. And when I type something a translucent box still comes up to say I am typing, but when I press the keys nothing comes up. When I press enter to submit what I typed it dissapears like normal.
I've tried:
- Reinstalling Halo
Uninstalling, then installing Halo.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have already redownloaded the patch obviously when I reinstalled Halo.
It doesn't ask me if I want to play it in Safe Mode, and I know Windows is not in safe mode because I know what Safe Mode looks like.

This problem is a common occurance in Halo, in every version, trial, CE, original, many people have it, although it is more common in CE than regular I believe. Supposedly, it's something to do with alt+tabbing, alt+f4, quick exits basically-I don't know if this is nessicarily true but I had the problem before and I fixed it.
Try:
-Reinstalling the game-Forget this, you already did. Try copying new Font Files from the CD to the area in the halo folder.
-Get the font editor. Use it, and make a backup of your fonts. Then edit the fonts you already have, change the colour to white, and see if everything checks out. Try different fonts too.
-Use the backup fonts instead of the first ones
-Try a different version of halo and see if it works (trial, CE). If so, use their fonts.

Make sure Halo is the only thing you're running. No messengers or other programs. If you do, that'll make the text invisable.

Search please. This problem has been solved before. It has something to do with a corrupt MSXML installation. I can't remember the details as it never happened to me. Just search our forums.
