geforce mx 4000

Post by wilso »

I just bought the Geforce MX 4000, and after going through many frustrating hours of installing drivers, it worked. It says it supports directX 9 and all the features of it, but I can't turn on specular or shadows! I'm not going to buy a 500 dollar video card so can someone please help me? I am not going to upgrade ram because that's just stupid and has nothing to do with graphics unless you have an integrated card.

Its Because You Have a GeForce 4000 its not good enough to show specular and shadow so it blocks it out.

You don't have to spend $500.00 for a good video card, not even the best card, the nVidia GeForce 6800GT is only $399.99 But, you can get the nVidia GeForce FX 5500oc for $159.99, or the nVidia GeForce FX 5700LE, which I have, for $179.99. So, awesome cards aren't always expensive. Go check em out at www.compusa.com

The lowest price you listed was about $160. That's insane. Who comes up with these prices?

Actually, that's a pretty cheap price, graphics card wise.

I know but if you think about it, the components of the chip can't cost that much and I don't think a programmer's work is worth that much. $500-600 for that? That's way too much for me. Once Halflife 2 comes out, I might get one for cheap at Fry's. Maybe I'll just go steal one. That's more efficient. Although I know Half Life 2 will run on a MX 440 (what I have, $80), it looks like a little nicer Halflife 1. But what are you gonna do?

depends if you have a pci or agp slot. agp tend to be cheaper since most computer have them and they are being created more now, where as pci cards are more expensive (sometimes by hundreds) all because fewer comps have them...

if things keep doing shit, try omegadrivers, they are free (asking for donations) and they improve liek every video card there is right now lol

i think i'm going to send him a donation cuz it fixed my shaders problems with my Xtasy 9200SE
