DRIVERS AND INSTALLATION
Ok, assuming you have a XBOX to USB adapter, like the one purchasable from Lik-Sang

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego ... 60e5b563b5

first obtain the XCTRL drivers available from

http://www.xboxbeyond.com/download.htm.

To install these drivers, you should unzip them to a directory you can remember, plug in your controller, and then Windows should detect your controller and say something like "New Hardware Found", tell it to open from a given location, and browse to the directory you unziped the drivers to, hit next. It should find them and may warn you that they are not signed by Microsoft, ignore this and continue on. Next it will say it found an HID controller or something similar, again, point it to the place you unzipped the drivers just like in the previous part.

Next, go to Start, Control Panel, and then double click Game Controllers. This will bring up another menu and you should se something like "Xctrl HID r1" listed, select it and hit properties. This should bring up a black menu with all the buttons listed, for this you want to hit the button Set X/Y, after you hit that button an area should change to a big red question mark, now twirl the left most joystick on your xbox gamepad, notice the movement on screen? Now, hit Set RX/RY and twirl your right joystick, finally hit Set ZX/ZY, and twirl the game pad, the + looking thing. Ok now you can close this out, but before you do note the Button Sensitivity and Dead Zone settings, come here if you are having troubles with the buttons and crank the sensitivity a bit. Now, time to fire up HALO PC!!!

SETTING UP THE CONTROLLER TO WORK WITH HALO PC

Ok, so you are inside and you have your profile created, what you want to do is go to Controller Settings, and hit the arrows by Keyboard/Mouse until it changes to XCtrl HID r1, now you should see a list of controls and "???" next to them, click on the Move Forward box in this with the mouse, the ??? should be flashing, now on your xbox controller, move the left joystick forward, did it change to Axis 1+? Good. Now click Move Backward, and move the left joystick on your controller back, notice it change to Axis 1-. Now for move left and right, do the same steps only tap left and right on the left joystick. Now, below that should be the look commands, set this up the same way you did on your movement ones, only this time use the right joystick. OK after that is all done, switch over to the Combat section (click the arrow next to MOVEMENT on the top). Now for this, you click the action, and then press the button you want to assign to it. IMPORTANT NOTE: With buttons when you are setting them, MAKE SURE TO MASH THE BUTTON AS YOU ARE SETTING IT! This will ensure that the button is set Button #1 instead of Axis 9+ for example. What this does for you is it prevents the game from thinking you hit the button twice when you only hit it once. This also goes with triggers, pull the trigger hard to make sure it sets it as a button and not an axis, this will make sure that it constantly fires when you hold the trigger instead of having to pull the trigger for every single bullet you wish to fire. If it doesnt say Button for each of the actions, simply reclick the controll and mash the button again until it does. Ok, now for the next step, for buttons you want to do multiple things (the X button for example) you simply click each action you want the button to do, and set it. Once you move onto the next action you want it to do, you click the control you want to change and press it again. You may notice that the previous one you had it set up for changes back to a ???, this is ok, it will still work once you are playing. Clicking Advanced on the setup page will allow you to change the sensitivity. Something to note, the action button is for entering and exiting vehicles. After you have all the buttons set up the way you want them to, go ahead and hit OK at the bottom.
That's It! You are now set to use your shiny XBOX controller with Halo PC!

In Closing

Using these methods I have gotten my Xbox controller to work EXACTLY the same as on XBOX Halo. So if the Keyboard and Mouse aren't your thing, then try this out.

I hope this guide has helped out those of you having problems or wondering how things would work and may purchase and adapter.

Thanks maybe people won't ask and not search so much now. I'll sticky and lock this. Again kudos.
