i ad the sam probleam and wrote to microsoft and they said to disconnect from the net. CTRL-ALT-DEL, it, close processes named, *_up.exe, avserv*.exe, hkey.exe, msiwin84.exe, wmiprvsw.exe. if you got them. then go to the site http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
or go to the windows update site and download Securiy Update (835732)
After thats downloaded go to http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusen ... M_SASSER.A, and download a scanner from there. that should fix your problem. Sorry about spamming other sites but it had to be done.

Ok there is alot to read so I am skipping it.
You have the lsass virus, better known as the sasser virus
It effects lsass.exe, a critical program for your computer to run.
1 I suggest you re-install Windows, and when doing so make sure your internet cable is un-plugged
Then once Windows is re-installed go to the following:

Start Menu> Control Panel> Network Connections> Local Area Network

Once there you wanna hit on the properties button, so click it.
Once selected choose the tab at the top labeled advanced.
Under the Internet Connection Firewall you should see a little box, make sure to check it.
Hit ok, and you are safe from the virus..
MAKE SURE you download an Anti-Virus and update it to be 100% sure you are safe.

ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE:When installing Windows XP choose to DELETE AND OVERWRITE all files, instead of repairing them.
Also whenever it asks (if it asks) to format your hard drive select yes.
Also when you first insert the Windows CD rom you wanna hit "Install Windows XP" then in the next screen where it says upgrade in the drop-down menu hit it, and select full install from the list...

The rest is pretty self-explanitory.

lmao I guess I shoulda bothered to finish reading lol

You dont need to re-install you noob lol, you just need to apply the damn patch and delete the files used by the virus....simple...I got the files on my system, but because I installed my FW, no attacks caused it to initialise...

Heres one way to check if you actually have it on your XP, open task manager, and processes, and see if you have avserve2.exe running, if you do, your infected, your computer will then be open to attack from the i-net, and when it gets attacked, it will cause the error and countdown to restart...

Heres the info about it:
