Graphical problem

Post by blueblaster »

Hey, I have some kind of graphical problem with my Halo. When ever I go to Video Settings in the options and set everything on High and play in game. The textures just look like colored grains (Like Blood Gulch for example, the grass doesn't look like grass, it looks like sand but green). Also specular, shadows, and decals is grayed out and it is set to No. Is there any way I can fix this? I've tried reinstalling but it doesn't help, thanks.

My Graphics card is a SiS 760 64MB. Came with my comp. Im pretty sure that i cant put everything on high and get what everyone else it getting because a person can max out there stuff even though they get under 30 fps (I know someone who does this and gets 5 fps in most of his games). In game around 30 fps at lowest 25 fps. This is on 800x480. I'm pretty sure i can enable everything because before when i played(i uninstalled because i was clean my HD) i had decals, etc and now i dont =\. If your going to ask for processor and other things i have a AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 512 MB RAM, 200GB SATA HD, and I'm running Windows XP SP2.

Also if you look at my photobucket profile and click on the AA subalbum you can see(i post bugs sometimes thats a M4 instead of a grenade in the guys hand) the graphics are not the best but they look nice (better than what i get in Halo =\) but still not the best. I don't know if it's a good comparision because AA runs on Unreal and I don't know if Halo does.

Sorry about being wordy =), you guys are great for trying to help me.

Everything is strong, but its the video card tats holding it back. Its basically having a Football player without arms. Good CPU, Good Hard Drive, Good RAM, but terrible card. Like fishface said, no matter what settigns you put it on, its going to look bad.

i can help you buy if you'd like. first thing is to check your PSU output and make sure whatever card you get doesn't suck your PSU dry, unless you have the cash to get a new PSU. also, make sure it's the right formfactor for your motherboard. for example, if your motherboard has a PCI express x16 slot, then shop for PCI express x16 cards.

yeah. i ran into that problem when i was shopping for a card. the one i had my eyes on, my default emachines PSU couldn't support, so i bought a new PSU. not sure if the old one would've had any problems, but at least i know i have enough power.
