a video card that can play halo pc

im saving up my money for a custom made computer, i have that down, but the one thing thats bugging me is what video card do i need that takes halo like it was pac-man? im looking for something around $100. so, can you just gimme a link to wherei can get the chips name, info, etc

tigerdirect or newegg has the XFX GeForce 6800 XT for around 100$

but i reccomend stealing 500$ more and get a 7950 GX2 dual GP

If you can find a card for $100 that can't play Halo on max settings, you're being ripped off. I would suggest the XFX GeForce 6800 XT that fishface was talking about, I have one in my computer, and I built my friend a computer with two (SLi) and they run great.

if you're wanting anything in the ati field, my x800 runs halo easy as pie, as well as CSS and day of defeat.

and yes, if you want top of the line, save up your cash and get the 7950. that thing is beast. but if you want something you won't have to replace in a year and a half, spend a bit more cash or maybe invest in SLI if your motherboard has an nVidia chipset.

Well to be honest to get a computer custom build for the next 4 years you would need to spent around 1000$ for these things:

-Dual-Core(64bit support will come soon)
-Sli Enabled Motherboard
-Sli Enabled Graphic Card
-2GB or Ram

I think that will support many of the up coming games.You dont need to use sli yet but you always have to think into the future.

for around 100 bucks, first check the specs, and search for video cards that meet those specs.

uhh, thanks everyone, now someting that can play halo CE, my friend has one of the best computers ive ever seen and it can barrely run halo CE, and that he needs more ram or something for Halo Editing Kit (HEK) so what do i need to run Halo CE and HEk like it was pac man?

lol, uhh, the highes i can go is 1000 bucks, and i know how high video card prices can go, and remember i have the rest of the computer to spend money on, so around 250 would be my max

So you want to build one yourself?

I build this one myself for 1000$.I took the CD-DVD Drives out of my old comp and also the hard drive.

what the fuck kind of awesome computer can barely run halo? my integrated graphics ran that thing on full!

also, what sort of video card slot will the mobo have? i reccomend PCIe x16, it's what all of the cards coming out now are made for, and it's got a faster through-put than AGP (i believe...).

here's a few cards i found in the 100-200 price range:

x1600 - 512 MB of DDR2 12 pipelines
7600 GS - SLI-ready, 512 MB of DDR2 memory, DVI and DB-15 out. 12 pipelines.

those are both really nice cards. if you're going for a single one, i think i'd get the ATI one. if you're going for an SLI setup now or in the future, grab the 7600, or grab the x1600 and wait for the 7950's price to drop.

he had a alien wear, lol, he doesn't relize whta hes got, he ha like, 200 virises and lets people hack it, so hes a retard, and im not goingo t build a computer myself, to much time and i don't have time, so this is what im getting:

You'll need a processor. (Assuming you didn't just forget to list that)
If I were you I would drop a half a gig of memory and up the graphics card budget.

ok, coming from someone who builds computers(im sure a lot of other people do too) but for 1000$ i suggest a dual core amd 3800+ (or higher), 1 gig of ram, sli-ready mobo (maybe one that comes bundle with the 3800+)
an nvidia 7series card i think i 7600 GT is around 200$ u also want a power supply, look at the Ultra X-connect ones at tigerdirect.com theyre less than 100$ and they are great

now thats the big stuff.

keep all ure disc drives and hard drives and case (unless its really ugly) from ure old comp and put it wiht teh new parts. this way u can put any extra money into a processor or video card

o and dont forget to buy fans!! get a CPU fan and at least 2 case fans

have fun, and dont screw anything up

Keeping CD drives is fine, but I would make sure that your hard drives are running at at least 5400 rpm, preferably 7200 rpm.

grab a raptor if you have the cash, it's a nice and fast hard drive.

and yeah, everything else everyone else said. but, if you're gonna save up and buy a 7950 (about $600), you don't need an sli-ready mobo
