If you add anything to a model, you won't be able to reinject it. You can only move the existing parts around.

the indices can be different only the vertices have to be the same or so i think
If it says too many indices, then the same thing must apply to indices as well.

The only idea I have is to use Milkshape instead of the program you're using.
