Is it possible to skin halo bitmaps on gimp 2? if so how?

Is it possible to skin halo bitmaps on gimp 2? if so how?

i try to open up a halo bitmap file from hmt but it doesnt reconize the file. im trying to skin a weapon with gimp. i just wanna know how to skin with gimp 2 if its possible.

you need a .dds to .bmp converter. here is one i used before i got photoshop:
