Problem with connecting

Post by Defiance »

I'm not sure if it can be done but I was trying to connect to xbconnect using dial up and everytime I plugged the ethernet cable into the xbox it would kick me offline and then I would have to make a new xbc username too because it would say mine is already in use, the name I could care less about but I really want to get these mods set up and then start modding and I don't feel like getting high-speed internet right away, but if that is the only way...

XBL on a 56 K

Alright, it might get a little bit complicated but not to difficult, anyone is free to use it, modchip is NOT required don't flame me and say that 56k slows down Xbox live, IT DOESN'T the only thing it will do I give dooba a chance to play on Xbox live. You must have a pc running WinXP Pro, WinXP Home, Win Me, Win 2000 Pro, or Win98SE

You will need:

A Router OR A crossover cable-
(I recommend using the crossover cable, routers don't always work with this, crossover cable is also called a Patch cable)

An Xbox-
(duh)

An Internet Connection-
(This tutis based on how to do it for a modem, but you can also follow these steps for any internet connection)

An Nic Card-
(This is a networking card, usually built into the motherboard)

This is how the setup should be:

Connecting Using Windows ICS
Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) allows you share one Internet connection with multiple devices, such as your Xbox. You need to use a Windows ICS connection (1) if your cable or DSL modem is USB-based, or (2) if it is an internal PCI modem (56k):

Scenario 1: USB-Based Modem
Follow these instructions if your modem is USB-based.
Scenario 2: Internal PCI Modem (56k)
Follow these instructions if you have an internal modem connected to a PCI slot on your PC.
If you do not have one of these two types of modems, you are better off choosing a different connection type.

Thnx for all the help but for some reason it still isn't working, i don't kno y but when i look at the lan link it says network cable unplugged and that might be why, but if it's too much work i'll just get high-speed internet that'll be a lot easier  also while i don't have it are there any mods i can apply without high-speed internet?

You mean bridge conncetion or something like that when I right click on LAN? Because I followed the first instructions and just set it so where it would allow other things to connect to my internet or whatever it said.

Strange, when I click on bridge connection it says "In order to create a bridge connection you must select at least two LAN or high-speed intnernet connections that are not using internet connection sharing." Even if I took ICS off I still only have one LAN and one dial-up connection... It'd just be easier to get high-speed internet, it's just where I live they don't have it, i'd have to get satellite which i'm probably going to end up doing.
