Starting modding help

Post by merios »

I don't see anything about actually adding .ppf or .MAP files to an XBox ANYWHERE on this site, or any other sites. I may be dumb, I may be a noob, but someone has to know how, I mean, c'mon. I've been searching for hours, it's probably very simple, and it's probably been under my nose this whole time, but can someone point it out for me?

Don't worry, when I first started, I was confused too. The link below takes you to a download that has almost every program you'll need. I say almost because there are new ones constantly created. A .ppf file is a patch file that you apply with ppf-o-matic. It's under the halo section of the program. The ISO section is the original cache file (in halo) and the original map in halo 2. The patch section is where you put the downloaded ppf. after you put the orig. map in the iso section and the ppf in the patch section hit apply and it patches the map file.

Now .map files are the games maps that you burn into you're xbox with a program like dvd2xbox. You can go to x-b-o-x.net for that. Basically, you burn the games directories (folders) into your e drive in the order/format that they are on teh disc. For halo, unless you be playing a campaign mod or modding campaign, you don't need the a10 a30 b50 ect. maps. You only need the multiplayer maps that you recognise. You also need the default.xbe of the game and that other stuff. You don't need the bink folder because they are the intro movies that say bungie and the ones that load if teh main menu is untouched for a while. Well, that's all you need to know on that topic. You can PM (personal message) me if you need help or have any more questions about anything. Anything= Evox apps like emus, media centers, how to burn in certain sections of games or just about modding both halo and halo 2. I WILL answer the messages pretty quickly. On weekdays, I'm in school, so I will check upon my return. I hope you have fun modding. PM me when you post your first mod. I'll check it out! 8)
