softmodding halo 2 (urgent)

okay, i cant get the modded dash using mechassault. i have all three files on the hard drive, whenever i go to install linux or emergency linux all i get is a grayish screen showing the mechs in the backround. kinda like the main menu. only moving really slow, and the music is very chopey. I know i have a very old box. made around may of 02
maybe even earlier. so what gives? can anyone help me?

edit: oh yeah and i can hear my hard drive copying files, but nothing happens when the hard drive stops. it just keeps on flickering the grayish screen with the music all chopey.

You can't softmod Halo 2.

is it a platum or not planum when i tryed my PLATUM mech one did that.... try cleaning. and this is a halo moding fourm
