XBOX Live and Modding

Post by BenDrummin58 »

If this is already written in some other part of the forum, then just point me to it...otherwise..i have a question.

I know you can turn off your modchip by either switching it externally or disabling it at the menu, but does that necessarily (spelling?) mean that XBOX Live won't know your using a modchip? Can Microsoft tell that you got a new dashboard, and saved games on your hard-drive, without even knowing there was a chip inside? Reason why I ask is not only am I afraid of losing my xbox live, but other people keep reporting that they get banned from xbox live, and they claim they turned off their chip.

Guess what I'm just really wanting to know is, what all does Microsoft look for to determine if they should ban your xbox or not [modding wise]. If anybody knows...greatly appreciate it if they could share the wealth

The only thing you can get on XBL with is some modded Bitmaps. You can't have any changes to the maps besides skins/custom bitmaps.

to ways to play live and have the option of playing or modding a game.
1: just buy another xbox, pretty simple.
2: the check at least 3 things
a. they check what bios you loaded up at the start(use switch)
b. they check your hard drive for anything they didn't put there or allow(get __an extra hard drive and plug it in when you want to mod.)
c. they check your EEprom and harddrive number thingy. If you get on and have changed one of these things, they ban you(preety much, don't change your default hard drive.)
there might be some other things i don't know about, but this is all I read about)
if you bought a large hard drive before you signed up for xboxlive, and you had it installed and working before you started using XboxLive, then just set the partition to like K or somewhere near there and they won't scan it.(i'm not sure but when i first looked into this that worked.)

yes i believe you can play. i have a xenium ICE ship, and if you boot the TSOP bios thingy (the retail MS Dashboard) you should be able to get online. the reason my xbox is banned is because, like you said in my post in this forum, i did accidentally and occasionally hit tabs haveing to do with XBL on the mainmenu, and since i had my mainmenu modded (orange matrix mod), they caught me. you should be able to play if you boot the retail kernal( original microsoft dashboard). hope that helps BenDrummin. Thanks for all your info in my question!

Thankyou for all that :)

So let me get this straight...if you burn games on your xbox and mod those burned games, MS wont ban you because they wont detect it...right? This is all I'm worried about. Because I would probably never mess with my hard drive, identification wise. And if I did get a new hard drive, I would just plug it in/out to prevent detection. Anyways yeah I justt want to mod games like halo 2 and mess with maps and files and burn games on my hard drive (well at least one).

So yeah...with all that I "plan" to do, would I get banned even though I set up my bios correctly and didn't mess with identification?

Thanks for the help! Greatly Appreciate it!

If your Hard Drive's size is modified, you can't play on XBL no matter what. But for some more answers, try www.xbox-scene.com , they are the ones that are REALLY focused on mod chips, we're just focused on mods, lol.

Yeah I read stuff from there...but I didn't really find the answer I was looking for. Still wondering if I have to change everything back to normal before I go on xbox live or not
