seperate folder for h2 modded maps?

Post by tristanx »

since halo 2 discussion is "locked" i'll post here instead.

here's my question: when adding a new map in ch2r, and manually adding the location directory when adding a modded map; can you create a new folder instead of using the the original "map" folder. i wish to keep my modded maps and originals seperate so as to keep it nice and clean. make sense?

thanks in advance. :D

p.s. i haven't able to try this yet cause i just hooked up my dsl and haven't bought a router yet.

that would require some default.xbe editing
what we did with orginal halo is just make a whole new copy of the game with the modded maps and some changes to the default.xbe so it would interfere with the other copies of halo

Couldn't you just link the map directoyr to a new directory within the maps folder?

example : scenarios\multi\moddedmaps\midship\midship

I never tried it but I think it might work?

What an awesome idea... this way you can keep your virgin maps seperate from your modded ones. I like it. I'll give it a try (tonight or tomorrow) and post back.

I love it when the people bring good ideas. ;)

zane,

that's what i was thinking. i wanted to see if anyone else has been successful. i think that this would be a helpful thing for halo2 modding. keeping things seperate... folder wise. when i last looked at my maps folder, just looking for a map file was making me nuts.

i was just thinking... is adding single-player modded maps the similar as adding multiplayer modded maps? like if i want to add SilentEdges Campaign mod ver 1.2 (dark old mombassa) in the single-player list with out messing araound with the original; is this possible? i haven't looked into this either... i've been busy.
