I do and have done it and it works. You will need xbox controller, usb extender cable, wire cutter and striper, electrical tape or soder iron (depending on how professional you would like it to look), and a zip tie. Ok first you cut off the end of the usb extender cable, cut back the outer casing and there should be like 4 or 5 wires. Strip each wire to the metal. Next do the same thing for the xbox controller (you might want to do this between the actual xbox plug and the saftey release this way you can still use the controller on xbox as long as you have an extra saftey release to plug into). After you have striped both sets of wires you will notice that the wires on the xbox controller and the wires on the usb extender are all the same color. Match the colors and tape or soder. Last use the zip tie to prevent you from pulling out your taped or sodered connections by looping the wire and zip tieing them. Other than that you need the drivers I don't remember where I got mine but I just googled pc+xbox controller drivers. Or just go here they have pics and the drivers.

drivers can be found here
instead of cutting off the end that connects to the xbox, you can just strip the wires and make a sort of "T" connector
if you look here you can find instructions for making it a "T" connector
instead of using the female end, use the male end of the usb cable
that way, you can use it for xbox and pc (i know, ive tried)

how about you not kill your controller and get a SmartJoy here
. It converts Xbox to USB.
