enhancing graphics for free...

Post by LiOnHeArTbLaDeX »

at BestBuy, the Geek squad taught me how to chnage the graphics in the BIOS menu on the computer...near the startup....for example, my laptop use to have 64mb in graphics but in the BIOS menu there was a choice of 32mb,64mb, and 128mb.So.....i think that any video card that states that its a 128mb video card, can be a 32,64,128(itself),and 256.Some of you may ask WHY there is a 256 mb video card thats out for sale....i have no idea but i think that if you have a 128mb video card and you change it to 256mb, it might not be that good as an original 256mb video card.Hope that helps!
BTW can someone post the instructions to the BIOS menu? That'll help a lot.

Well, you can set intergrated graphics to different amounts of vm. But it's because it's intergrated. So, you can change the amount of memory for intergrated chipsets, but not video cards. For example, if you were to take the ATi Radeon 9800 128 meg version, you can't go into the BIOS and change it to a 256 meg card, because the ATi uses it's own memory, not intergrated, and it's a set amount of memory, like a stick of ram, you can't change your 512 meg stick ram to a gig stick of ram. But intergrated yes.

Yeah. They're usually pretty crappy too. Some of the uber high end pre-assembled computers have good cards though.
