heh, you'll have to spend a little more than that to get good graphics. I spent $256 on my Asus Radeon 9600XT and im still not totally happy with graphics although they are good enough for now. Also you'll have to buy a card with atleast Direct X9.0 to have halo run properly. So I recomend saving up untill you can afford something over $100.

hey best thing to do is find when stuff is on sale (usually near holidays or after) i found my ati 9200 all-in-wonder for a little over $100 bucks (like 110 with tax) on sale, went back the next week and it was $150. (walmart btw). You should also look into rebates, most say they are a certain price but have rebates on them, try and talk your date into the rebate action (which is usually VERY good on computer type hardware), i got 75$ rebate from my hardrive on sale 120gb.

So just look around and compare shop. Also if you know your gonna get money later then you should also just ask your dad for the money itself up front and save...usually computer parts get cheaper because electronics expand so quickly. Just deal with the crappy till you get the better ones. Also depends on what you will use your card for, like i do video editting so i couldve just went for the regular 9200 and saved like 10 or 20 bucks but i went for the all-in-wonder so help with my videos.

agreed (and the link i think the guy was saying was pricewatch.com) but if you are young (which you shouldnt be playing halo anyway ) and dont make enough money to actually save enough to buy another one (or its the family computer and you dont want to invest), then just see what you can get and price search for lowest.

Just a suggestion, make sure your computer can handle a good video card. I bought a Radeon 9800 pro, but my computer couldn't handle it.

my computer can't run my videocard at full power i have a ati 9200 128mb 8x all-in-wonder

and my specs are 800mhz PIII 330 sdram 120 gigs (80+40gbs) sound blaster live.

It cant run at 4x but needs ddr ram to run at 8x (or somthing like that). Still runs beautifully to me. But my friend had a better card and he said mine was lacking (although he paid 200 bucks for his and his computer is overclocked 2 giggy)

The power supply couldn't pump out enough watts to feed the 9800 pro. Make sure your psu can put out 300 watts or more.

stick a screwdriver in the power supply while its plugged in... if it blows u away 5 feet u have 100w, 10 feet, 200w, 30 feet, 300w, 50 feet, 400w

jk

majorgeeks.com

go and download a system specs view and it should tell u what power supply u have, or access ur bios, or open up ur rig and look for the label on the power supply

Check ebay! I bought a ti4600 for $75 and got my friend a NEW ti4200 for $45. I also got a 680 watt power supply for $36 w/free shipping. you can get a 500 watt for like $25. Those should be in your range with awesome graphics. My ti4600 hits 15,000 3d marks and over 200 fps. Can't beat it for the price.
