I just got my XBOX from an eBay auction...

Post by Axel »

And it's freaking broken. I turn it on and it says that I require maintenance. I called up the XBOX support line and they told me that it would cost about 100 bucks to get it fixed up. I can't even get a refund from the guy because he was selling it "as-is" and stated no refunds...though the bastard said it was a disc-reading error, not a maintenance error...sonofamonkey...

Well anyway...does anyone know any good sites or something where they fix boxes for cheap or even buy broken boxes or exchange with a combo of money or something?

I already looked over llama.com/xbox

llama.com and xbox-scene.com will help much more then someone you just ask out of the blue. Caution it actually takes some looking around and research.

you could possibly mod the xbox and buy a different disk drive that will let you rip games. i plan to do that to my broken xbox. you can play roms and copy games on to your hdd. (kinda illegal, but cool) you can buy a new disk drive for about 100 which is way better than having microsoft replace it with the standard crap drive.

Disk drives are much cheaper then 100 but yes, modding a box will help you learn how to take care of it aswell.
