Map Makeing Help

This is not my map and I have never seen this before. I am helping someone with there map because they cant compile. I think that there is a problem with the model in 3ds max but I wanted to make sure. So tell me what you think here is what it is doing,

go into 3ds max and make sure that each surface has only one layer, for instance, make sure that there is nothing overlapping the ground. Another way to fix this is on this site (a great help, might i add)
