Halo CE Laser Sight Beta

Newer Version available!
The laser is now red and thinner. Pictures have also been updated as of Thursday, February 7th, 2008. Special thanks to Cryticfarm for the laser bitmaps and superman_916 for the tip on secondary triggers

It's pretty much just for show and to help you aim in thirdperson mode with no hud. It's not recommended for maps with AI because it alerts them of your position. Just put the tags in their respecful folders and compile them into your map then you're done. (The map in the pictures is a modified icefields that I will be releasing soon)

you should make it red, and alot thinner. but I actually was looking for something like this in a mod I was thinking of making! =)

Yeah I know, it's a very early beta. I'm trying to figure out how to change it's bitmaps but I don't know how to

to compile a bitmap,first u have to make sure the bitmap u want is in a .tif file extenshion. then use tool to compile bitmaps u can do 1 single bitmaps at a time or all the bitmaps in a folder at once.
example: tool bitmaps weapons\assultrifle\bitmaps (all bitmaps in folder)
or
example: tool bitmap weapons\assultrifle\bitmaps\laser.tif (single bitmap)
if u can find Tool++, its a handy version of tool that saves u trom typing everything. however its still not as good as tool cause it gets errors.
however compiling a bitmap wont make it thinner.

Yeah i'm here, I updated the download again. I haven't changed the pictures yet though, i've been procrastinating lol

I made one of these a year ago. The easiest way is to add a secondary trigger to the weapon tag, make it fire the sentinel beam, null damage and impact effects, edit the contrail to be thinner and adjust the hue, compile tags, and export tags and rebuild into a pc map. sounds complicated, and it is, but it creates a photo-realistic laser sight without any custom bitmaps. Very hawt if you pull it off. Just by editing the contrail hue you can make it red or blue or green or pink or wtf you want without skinning anything.
Looks pretty good as-is though. Props for taking the time to find a way to do it.
Edit: you can use ctrlaltdestroy's xyz weapon plugin to change where it comes from on the gun. For the sniper I like using the little range-finder tube underneath the barrel.
