[Map] Separated - Final Page 7!!!!!!!

Post by FleetAdmiralBacon »

Separated
Fleet Admiral Bacon
With help from Jarocks, [EJ]Bean, IceDragon, Pepto-Bismal, PenGuin136, and Gibbo.

:: Download Mirrors ::
- RapidShare.de Mirror
- Game-Gateway mirror

:: Map Info ::
Map Size: Medium/Large
Map Type: Land/Space
Vehicles: Draco (2), Firefly (3), Warthog (4), Missile Warthog (4), Scorpian (2), Halcyon* (1)
Gametype support: Slayer, CTF, KotH, Oddball, Race
Description: The map is a chunk of Installation 04 after its cataclismic destruction. Using beam towers as bases, you fight the opposing team over a deep chasm connected by a sole bridge of forerunner construction. Using the Draco, a large ship, and the Firefly, a small jetbike, you can battle the enemy in the air. With the AT4 Anti-Tank Missile Launcher, you can blow your enemy out of the sky.

Completely ignore everything past here -----------------------
NOTE: This is my entry for DOMINTR's $50 Halo CE Map Contest

Two chunks of the destroyed Installation 04 float in space, newly home to two groups of marines, prisoners and officers. Each group has a set of warthogs, a Draco and a Firefly, a small jetbike with an experimental recall device that forces it to teleport back to its Draco when no one is in it.

So, pics, keep in mind there are two of these halo cunks and they still don't have scenery yet (I plan on having some forerunner structures for scenery)
EDIT: Due to unforeseen issues, the map will no longer have 2 rocks. It will only have one. So, in order to make the name suit, a huge crack (like the one in coldsnap) will be placed in the middle.

And the Firefly Jetbike:

EDIT:
Here's the map ingame, please excuse the poor quality of the image itself and the graphics you see in the picture. My notebook has NO gfx card whatsoever.

Ok, sure, thanks for the name of the map : )

And, as I promised, here's the beta.
Note that lightmaps are buggy and none of the scenery is in it yet.
I'm getting people to make some destroyed forerunner stuff for me. No big deal, I can make my own if I need to.
So, here it is, Seperated Beta (and unlike most of my maps, it's worthy of being a beta)
Stuff to be added:
Forerunner buildings
Light bridge (i'm making my own that will strech across where the torpedo bridge thing is now)
Bases (which will probably be a mix of forerunner buildings and portable human stuff)

AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE DRACO V1 IS DONE. DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT THE SMALL ERRORS IN IT!
Those small errors are:
No airlock door
Nothing in the big room on the top floor
Some geometry is buggy.
YOU NO BUG ME, K?

EDIT: "Tried to upload empty file", sorry about that. I'll try again in a minute.

The Firefly was a 1 hour vehicle, it has some work left, yes, but what do you expect when most of that hour was compiling the map?
It's cause I don't have the forerunner buildings in there yet. Once I get them it will go from empty rock to forerunner city

Oh, and BTW, the pic is an early one, you'll see the actual map when I finally get it uploaded.

Looks great so far Bacon :)
It obviously does need more work though, a lot more work, im not saying its terrible and you need to redo the entire map, you just need to add more scenery to it. I like what I see so far though.

We should have a nice base in the map in the next version. (As long as the model doesn't have tons of errors.) the bases will have many rooms as well as underground segments. The Marines built these as headquarters. There are garages, armories, breifing and tactical rooms, umbilicals that connect to the airlock on the third story of the draco, and a room packed to the brim with flood. -JK about that last one
There will also be forerunner elements in the map as well.
We can use any models for the dracos empty room or buildings (PM me or bacon if you are interested)

Your texture (or maybe it's Video Settings) quality doesn't seem too great.

It's because of the shader I have on there. It's JUST the detail map, no base (the base is the detail)
I'll be fixing it, it was just because I had to get it looking right first.

I just spent hours on making a lightmap and it never even really started. One of these days, over night, I'll be running a full detail, 0.000001 lightmap on it. My computer is so slow I'll have to close all non-system tasks...

sorry bacon, but i think this map is really quite ugly. what design is there to this? it's just big open fields in the middle of space, with a big crack seperating them, yet connected by a light bridge. and then the bases are close to the bridge? i don't get it. i think you would fair better from trying harder.
Image
Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D

The bases are a lot farther from the bridge than you think...
And why is it ugly? YOu only explained why it would be impractical, which I disproved.
Considering I haven't made the base map for the ground, you can't see any paths to the bridge. The map is also extremely large, but not as big as hugeass or something like that. It is a TON bigger than blood gulch

BTW, that bridge is twice as long as the one in a30

i think its coming along very well, cant wait to see the final project...but i do think the bases are to close to eachother (If the other base is the same distance from the bridge as the first one) But good work

Let me leave it at this:
Image
The base at the top is the one you see in the picture.

Oh, and since I'm not so into lightmaps, will compiling the lightmaps on full fix those really weird lines? I'm guessing it will... I'm also not running all the way..
