PAL2NTSC Conversion Patches

Post by mtxboxfreak »

Reposting this since the old Outstanding Mods forum was lost. :(

This set of ppf patches will convert any PAL multiplayer map into an NTSC-compatible version. This means you can apply ppf patches meant for NTSC maps to your converted maps and play NTSC mods, without having to acquire an NTSC version of Halo.

The patches are bundled with a HMPi (Halo Map Pack Installer) executable if you're feeling lazy and just want to have everything converted to NTSC for you. Otherwise you can find the individual patches in the ~input\maps folder and these can be applied as normal.

Thanks to Reddog for helping with the tiny convert patches and for HMPi.

Reddog's HMPi README:
To install an NTSC version of Multiplayer Halo using a UK PAL Halo disk:

1) Setup a fresh UK PAL Halo folder. You only need default.xbe, bink (optional), and the maps folder. You should also delete any map files that are larger than 30MB (these are singleplayer maps).
2) Edit input.log with your IP/User/Pass/Halo Directory.
3) Run RPP.exe
4) Your Halo directory is converted to NTSC and ready for modding!

Note: Your single player maps will no longer work, so play them off of the disk or keep your original PAL installation intact.
Halomods won't let me attach them, so here's an offsite link until I can sort it out:
