*Halo 2 Rendering Made Easy*
Seeing how so many people seem to be having trouble with 3dsmax, I decided to make another tutorial to attempt to clear some things up. I originally used [url=

Nice tutorial man, But i was wondering if there is a way instead of doing just characters if it is possible to do vehicles/weapons/ or objects (like maps or idem on the maps)
* i am currently at this time working on a warthog and i got all the way to where you get the OBJ. out of ADI and i cant lol the house thing is grayed out!

actually, you can (and should) use the exact procedure that I did above. This tutorial is not limited to the grunt, I made it to help with all models, characters, weapons, etc...
As for the warthog being grayed out in ADI, that means you are trying to extract it from the wrong map. Open other maps and try it.

that or he has the wrong modlib files or not all of them ... something, i remember mine did that... but... re-downloading and doing the modlib files fixed it... meh

Do you think You can do this for MC? and/or Elite? but include the whole shibang?(biped rigging n such)

Update: I added model and bitmap extraction. As for the rigging, color changing, and reflections, I'm working on it...

Never ends does it?
"Hey, great tutorial, you are AWESOME!!!"
"Can you make the rigging and stuff?"
"can you finish it?"
"when will the rest be out?"
"I can't do reflections or rig by myself, when will your toturial for it be out?"
I'm gonna post part 2 for reflections for my tutorial like, right now, but u all should seriously try your own rigging...
as its the hardest part, and most of it teaching wont do much anyway, since all we teach you to do is make a skeleton and envelop the model, YOU actually have to move the skeleton and proportion it.

lol, you know exactly how it is zman. i'll do reflections and color changing before i do rigging, just because rigging would be 5 times the length of everything else combined.

bloodychief (srry if i spelled the name wrong) you need a modded xbox or a torrent client to get those maps.
(quite simple really)

and the torrent way is illegal,
as it is piracy, and distributing copyrighted material...
lol, yes I do know Ross... I do know...
Now if I can get ym sky sphere to look as pimp as yours....

y u say that torrent is just sharing files with another person.
and ross how did you get that single_player_shared.map
i only have shared.map and no friends that have a modded xbox.
(sides where the **** am i gonna get $150 money doesnt grow on trees you no. sides pcs are better than xboxes cuz u can do so much more on them)
[srry if i sounded rude or like a jerk.]

yes sharing copyrighted files IS illegal, y do u think there's nobody going around sharing the disc files from Forza? or Halo 2?
So everyone can play with their friends on XBC or X Kai?
What's this about $150?
You don't have an xbox?
And, if your sorry about "sounding liek a jerk", then Y do U keep doing it?

Soft-modding is free by the way, no need for an action replay or any games even. Go to
www.xbox-scene.com to learn how. Then, you can transfer all of the halo 2 map files to your hard-drive yourself.

And if I come back and there is more talk about mod chipping/soft modding I will lock this topic.

Indeed.
Anyways, shadows are too blocky. Use vray. ;o

by rossgemuend
yeah, i'm aware of the shadows being like that. I could simply increase the Rays/Sample setting in the light tracer settings too. The lighting isn't really the point of this tutorial though, thanks for the advice anyway. I'm still new to 3dsmax (about 4 months of playing around) but i've heard alot of good things about v-ray, i'll look into it.
