You dont see the bumps in perspective view. Make sure your diffuse map is set to show in viewport. Press the F10 key, then press Render, then you can see your bump maps. Nothing wrong with my files :D.

k thanks for the files and the help

EDIT: ok now iv'e gotton to the point where i add bones, the problems are i just can't get it right, the arms are the hardest because they arent big enough, im modeling the mc, can anyone help me?

When we extract images with 0.9.3 Must i have 3 dds or 1 dds per images

very helpful, I have some slight knowledge in 3ds, but most of that stuff is new to me.

now I need to just do all this stuff for every model in the game and I can start making awesomely pimp pictures and short vids.

also,

has anyone found how to extract the animations from halo 2 and use them on these bipeds?
that would make animations much easier, I mean come on, everyone loves prefabs.

that and I wouldnt have to re make all the walking, jumping, melee, reload, and all that.

Im not a pro with photoshop or 3ds Max but i could get everything no problem up until changing the color of the elite and putting the biped skeleton in the model. If anyone could explain how to make the alpha maps better that would be awesome and a good tut on inserting the biped skeleton would be even better. Thanks :) .

im using maya but i was able to follow your tut fine. now i know how to correctly change the colors of MCs and Elites. the only problem with it is that the MC's visor shows up black when i originally skin it... is that a common problem or just something in maya?

The visor is a different image. Look under the Objects>Bitmaps>Reflections on the mainmenu, then it goes to cubemapping, which is a pain unless you have someone helping you. (AIM me if you need help with the cubemaps)

okay, rossgemuend hleped me,

Basically Platt's tut is very VERY off..

AS soon as Ross helps me finish up (got working models and textures with alpha and bumpmaps, but still to do the biped and stuff) I'll post an even BETTER tut. (With your name in the credits of course Rossgemuend)
