I have a whole box full of N64 games  So it will be hard for me to break the law.

Would it be legal to take some of these and put them in halo if you give credit to Nintendo and the creators of the game?

Well...Nintendo must not care too much about ripped geometry from 64 games. take a look at Bob-omb Battlefield and Hyrule Field. Both of em have had CE maps for a good long while. After comparing them to exports, I'm 95% sure they were both made from ripped geometry.

And besides, it's not as if the mapping community is making complete recreations of the games, therefore robbing nintendo of potential customers or something.

Though now that I think about it, if done well, that could be quite interesting. Alter the flood infection forms, so they don't jump or explode on contact, and then replace their models with goombas...then modify the heck out of the HUD, screw with the camera so its always in third person, (perhaps make flashlight switch to first). create mario biped. cannon could be a vehicle.
lol

Anyway, I plan to continue work on my goldeneye Facility level for CE. I'd say 80% of the BSP's geometry is ripped(though few of the original faces exist, due to optimization), but only 0-5% of the weapons geometry has been ripped. Take a look at my 1337 moonraker laser.

No idea. Odd. I would say try other video plugins, but to export geometry you need the one i mentioned. :? Try running it on another computer. If it works, it's your computers fault.

You might looking into getting getting the emulator Nemu. I didn't mention it in the tutorial cause I've had more problems with it than 1964.(even though the exporter plugin was originally designed for nemu).
http://www.nemu.com/

BTW, to any admins who see this, any chance this could make it to the Tutorials index? :D

No not the roms, just the tools and how to export things. And thanks -Laser- ill try that out and see how it goes.

Also, I think this should go on the tutorials index also under Miscillanious, that would be uber.

EDIT: Ok it exported but where is the VRML?
EDIT: Liek zomg teh sweetness. It works now. :)

The plugin requires a card with pixel shaders in order to work. From what I can tell, there's absolutely no reason why that would be a requirement but it is. Somewhere on Emutalk there's a program that tricks it into working, I have it on my computer, it's called 3DAnalyze.

You should run the emulator (preferably Project64 or 1964) through 3DAnalyze, uncheck everything, then check Everything in the "Hardware Limits (cap bits)" except for "Emulate HW TnL caps" and then check "shaders" under "ANTI-DETECT MODE".

When you run the program a bunch of errors will pop up occassionally, just click through them and eventually you'll get to where you want. =D

Now as for the whole ROM/Emulator thing:
Roms in general are illegal, the 24 hour rule is made up. The only legal way to hold a rom is if you have the original cart and you, yourself, make one backup on your computer and do not distribute it. It's pretty clearly laid out in US law, but both sides (ROM dealers and.... well, Nintendo and Sony) lie through there teeth about it.

Emulators are legal as long as the actual BIOS isn't included with it (nearly every emulator except for PS1 emulators do not require the original bios). And even then, I've never seen the bios included with an PS1 emulator, so they're legal, but you'll never get them to work legally =P

ROM dealers say everything's legal, and Nintendo says both are illegal. Meh. Maybe Nintendo should work harder on protecting their content, they're always the first emulated.
