Im still surprised no one has even thought of modding the demo at all, or doing anything to unlock some of the features and things like that.

It's in a LIVE container, the only modding would be done on a devkit, and the people with the capability to do that don't seem very interested.

I placed my Pre-Order for the Limited Edition Today. I love the fact it's coming out in the UK on a Friday, giving me an entire weekend to play it. Thank you Ensemble!

I'm a little confused, can someone enlighten me...

The Arbiter is in Halo Wars, is it the same Arbiter from Halo 2/3, the one that only became the Arbiter in Halo 2... years after the events of Halo Wars?

No geo :)
Let me explain :
The arbiter in HALO WARS, was one of many Arbiters who the prophets had chosen to be put on a suicidal mission.
If you remember in HALO2 when the Arbiter receives his armour, he is in a chamber where all other arbiters rested (dead).
There has been many Arbiters :)
And in quick answer: No, this is not the HALO 2 arbiter.

And Thrasher, even if we could mod the demo; like i doubt it would have any other features available to be unlocked?

EDIT: Answered my own question:
Speed of gameplay ( in tutorial things build VERY fast)
Forge as a commander in skirmish
Speed and Power of units. Etc :)

I was aware the Arbiter was not a single elite, but more of a 'rank' but they just sounded very similar. Thanks for clarifying.

I wish they had made it so that u can buy different upgrades for units sorta like in Endwar. Not necessarily give you more upgrades just different ones from different commanders that way you can personalize your own army.

Isn't that what they're doing? I swear from their hints on the main menu, each have theirr own personalised upgrades for units. Though if you meant choosing upgrades like 1 of 3 then yeah I get you.

I've looked at the files, and there is a chance they are not RSA signed. But then again this wouldn't be a fun game to mod.

For the record ... Not many people know this, but the Arbiter's birth-given name is Shirley.

I just allready took a look into the Halo Wars files.
The Gamesaves are fully encrypted. Nothing in plain or unicode text in there.
All the Map files itself are inside a *.era file and also fully encrypted.
Actually everything is inside this filetype and cant not be viewed in ...
*sadface*

Only the "sounds.pck" file is a "normal" container and looks like the .wma files can be extracted.
But I expect that all files have that special Xbox 360 header.

No modding for Halo Wars ._.

The era files are not encrypted, they are compressed. Most likly lzx, which anyone with the 360 SDK would be able to decompress. I haven't looked at the game saves, but I can garentee that are not encrypted. Also the sound pack, is just wma and wav file encoded with the 360 codec. The game is completly modifiable, but the tools won't be realsed because they would contain illegal resources.

Or they'll get leaked and we just wont allow discussion of them due to them having illegal resources...
