Some maps I'm workin on.

I was givin a project at school to design and create SOMETHING. I decided it would be a new level for Halo.

The level is inspired by Lockout and Ascension. Name: Lockin (name might change)

This isn't the final product of course, there is still a lot of work to do on this, but it's good enough to post for now.

I still have a lot of skinning work to do on this map, and I'm thinking about scaling it larger aswell. Right now it's on the boarder between a little too cramped and perfect, so I figure making it a bit larger could only improve.

Prizz:

This map is a small indoor map, made primarily for CTF. It's basiclly a big hill with the two bases at each end of the hill and the flag spawns at the very bottom of the hill. I know that sounds kind of lame, and so that's why it's not a grassy hill, it's a metal one.

I called it Prizz because when I started the map, I wanted to make something similar to Prisoner, and so I made a smaller, more compact map than Prisoner. There are still some tweaks I have to make before I release it publicly on Xbox, but it shouldn't be long.

I know the top floor thing on Prizz (first picture, he's standing on it) looks like garbage at the moment. I just have it there as a layout test. No use making it look pretty if it's not gunna stay right?

I've been working on a lot of new maps and such for an upcoming map pack for Xbox. I want highly competative maps and most of the maps that people have made for CE are just screwoff maps. Then there are the other maps that people actually spent some time on, and they are just way too huge for any realistic play.

With that in mind, I have been aiming for smallish (1v1-4v4) maps for use on the Xbox. On CE people think "Well I can make it as big as I want, we can get a bunch of people online on this." On Xbox, you usually dont have that. Expecially with modded content. Small maps for a LAN/splitscreen are ideal for that audience. I need some beta testers aswell, any takers?

I'm done rambling... what do ya think?

Look at Page 2 for Prizz2...

I don't mod this platform, So I don't know how hard it is to do something like this, but In my opinion, its something attractive...

I would love to play a map like this with friends(or AI, Just someone to battle).

<3 The first few pictures.

how about instead of making 9 new maps, you work on making the details nice? i see a LOT of boxes. try making your bsp's more complex.

On Lockin, I intended for it to be all sharp and such like that. I guess it's kinda just the "style" that I wanted. There are some things that I have in Lockin that I want to make more detailed (like the thing he's looking at in the fourth picture), but the railings I wanted plain.

Prizz is fairly non boxy, other than the top floor thing which I commented on in my first post.

I'd choose gameplay over graphics anyhow. (hence... why I'm playing Halo 1 instead of Halo 2...)

Thanks again for coments/crits.

Small update on Lockin

Image
Please excuse the crappy graphics in the picture, this was taken on my crappy PC because I cant get to my good one at the moment...

I took out some railings... made some new railings... made some walkpaths wider... and changed the sky.... plus many other changes.

All you need to know is....

BE EXCITED haha... this map will pwn.

Prizz, I've pretty much givin up hope on becoming a good map. I have too bad of a bottleneck on it, and instead of improving it I'm just going to trash it and start up on a new concept I drew up the other day.

I dont really have an update... but I just thought it'd be neat to share my concept sketch I turned in for the grade for lockin.

I brought my Xbox in and played the map... I had blueprints laid out for the map and everything. The teacher looked at the blueprints and made me point out a point of reference to the prints.

Reminds me of unreal tournament or Quake 3 arena style maps...
Now all you need is jump pads :P
