I think when you UVW Unwrap it render the texture out like that. That or he just used that on his Unwrapped model so he could tell where the colors corresponded to on the model.

Or do you mean saving as a .png for a transparent background?

No, I know about png, I mean the edges showing like that in a render.

It just happens, i don't know how, but i used the default settings of texporter. Something with lines. :P
